ANTIGO, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Bond was set at $1 million for the suspect in an Antigo homicide case.
Derek Goplin, 38, appeared in Langlade County Court on Monday afternoon. He’s charged with stabbing his mother, Susan Reese in her home. Police found her body on November 1 during a welfare check.
Court documents say that Goplin was at the home the afternoon of October 31. Video surveillance reportedly shows the victim and a child outside the home. A couple of hours later, the video shows Goplin and the child leaving.
Police then say they later found the child wandering alone at a motel. The 5-year-old reportedly told police that grandma tried to kill dad, then dad told the child to hide and stabbed the grandma.
Goplin was arrested in Racine County last Thursday and brought back to Langlade County late last week.
His next court hearing is set for November 12.
