MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A Lincoln County deputy with only a year on the force will not be charged after being involved in a chase that ended in a fatal crash back on June 2nd.
DCI officials investigated the case involving deputy Dean Dokken who was pursuing a stolen car driven by 27-year-old David Burdick . Burdick crashed at the intersection of Joe Snow Road and Hwy Q and was killed.
The Lincoln County DA’s office said that Burdicks death was caused by Burdick operating the vehicle at a high rate of speed and was his choice. Dokken’s actions did not cause Burdicks death.
