WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A new group made up of Wausau business and community leaders is beginning to promote inclusiveness in the city and help businesses.
It’s called Mosaic and the idea began earlier this year. It’s aim is to provide education and resources for organizations looking to move forward on community diversity issues.
Tim Parker , President of the Wausau Community Foundation said that “for Marathon County, the population has been flat for years and we don’t have enough high school graduates to even fill the open positions today even if they all stayed in the community.”
Parker said the more diversity a community has, the better it will prosper and volunteer Kathy Drengler agreed saying “many businesses face limited growth without reaching out to new faces and communities”.
The organization has a virtual event scheduled for November 19th from 7:30-9:30 AM entitled “An Introduction to Unconscious Bias”. It will me given by Yang Xiong, Human Resources Business Consultant with Sentry Insurance and Dorcedar Glover, GM of Precision Coils, GreenHeck Group.
