WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The jury trial of Rick Gramza has been put off after a court hearing on Monday.
Gramza, the former Marshfield Police Chief facing misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct, was scheduled for a three-day trial between December 15th and 17th. But court records show that after Monday’s Pre-trial conference, those have been canceled and a telephone conference has been scheduled for January 3rd.
It’s unclear why the case was removed from the docket, as no details of the conference have been entered into the record as of Monday afternoon.
Charges against Gramza stem from accusations that he made unwanted sexual advances towards a female officer over several years, even dating back to before Gramza’s time as Chief. The alleged victim said she did bring her concerns up to the city’s HR department, but it never went any further than that.

Gramza has acknowledged the contact but said it was consensual. He had previously faced felony counts of misconduct in public office, but those were dismissed on a motion from Gramza’s legal team.
Gramza remained employed by the city but was on leave for more than seven months, continuing to collect salary and benefits before negotiating a separation agreement in March of this year.
