MILWAUKEE, WU (WSAU)– The Milwaukee Brewers will be in need of a back-up catcher this off-season. Manny Pina, the longest tenured Brewer, signed a 2 year, $8 million free agent deal with the world champion Atlanta Braves.
The 34 year old has been a member of the Brewers since 2016. Pina only hit .189 last season but did have 13 home runs and 33 RBIs in 75 games last season. He also was known for strong defense and the ability to throw out baserunners
He was a popular player both in the clubhouse and with the fans.
The Brewers will have to decide if they look for another catcher or promote one of their minor leaguers like Mario Feliciano.
