STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The Stevens Point City Clerk’s office is looking for poll workers for what will be a busy 2022 election season.
City leaders are looking for people who would be available to work either full or half-day shifts during any of the upcoming elections. Those hired would handle tasks such as checking voter ID’s, issuing ballots, assisting voters with filling out ballots, and handing behind-the-scenes work.
Election workers in Stevens Point are paid $14.50 per hour for both training and their work on election day. Training is conducted when the workers are hired, and updated prior to each election day.
Those interested in working must be US Citizens who are eligible to vote in Portage County, 18 years of age unless they are a qualified high school student, and not be a candidate running for election in the polling place they are going to work at. Additionally, all election workers must be able to read and write fluently in English.

The city will see numerous elections next year including a potential spring primary in February, the spring general election in April, statewide primary in August, and mid-term election in November.
The mid-term will feature several high-profile, statewide races including for one US Senate seat, Governor, and the usual 7th Congressional District seat.
