
Marquette Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Marquette Golden Eagles used two late steals to seal a 67-66 upset win over 11th ranked Illinois on Monday night at Fiserv Forum.
Guard Tyler Kolak scored the game winning layup off a steal with 19 seconds left and the Golden Eagles finished off the Illini with another steal a few seconds later. They got defensive stops on 10 of the last 11 Illini possessions.
Darryl Morsell had 21 points for Marquette. Kolak added 14. Illinois was led by Trent Frazier with 23 but were missing All-American center Kofi Cockburn who is sitting out an NCAA suspension.
Marquette, now 3-0 under new coach Shaka Smart, will play Ole Miss on Thursday in Charleston SC.
