WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — James Farrar was found guilty of arson by a 12-person jury on Wednesday for starting a fire that left a Wausau home a total loss this spring.
Several Wausau Police Officers and Firefighters were called to the stand on Tuesday for the first day of the trial which had been scheduled to run for a single day. But that was extended into Wednesday to allow additional testimony from more officers and a fire inspector.
Records show that both sides rested their case just before 11 AM on Wednesday. Farrar elected to not testify in his defense.
Closing arguments were made early in the afternoon. The jury then exited to deliberate just before 3:00 PM and returned with the guilty verdict about 75 minutes later.
Sentencing will be held at a later date. Marathon County Judge LaMont Jacobson set a calendar call for December 1st to schedule further action.
