WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Salvation Army will distribute food boxes for Thanksgiving this Thursday and Friday at their Callon Street location.
Boxes will contain all the items needed for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner including a full turkey, dressing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a dessert. There’s no charge for the food, but representatives will require some items from those picking up the boxes for statistical reporting purposes.
That includes proof of residency and income along with the number of people in your household. Appropriate documents would include a piece of mail with your address on it, a recent pay stub 0r letter showing assistance received, identification for each person in the household (Government or student ID or birth certificate.) Proxy pickup will be allowed but the person picking up the box must provide a note from the family along with those documents.
Distribution will begin Thursday from 9-11 AM and will continue from 1-4 PM. Boxes can also be picked up on Friday from 9-11 AM and again from 1-6 PM.
No appointment is required to receive a box.
Last year the Salvation Army distributed around 400 boxes for Thanksgiving, and they are anticipating a similar need again in 2021.
