MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin womens soccer team advanced to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen with a 3-0 win over UC-Irvine on Friday in Fairfax, Virginia.
The Badgers got goals from Natalie Viggiano, Joyelle Washington and Izzy Verdugo. Jordyn Bloomer had four saves for the Badgers.
Wisconsin will will last years NCAA champions, Santa Clara, on Sunday in Washington DC.
The 5th ranked Wisconsin volleyball team beat Michgian State 3-1 on Friday night in Madison. The scores were 25-15, 25-17, 34-36 & 25-17.
The third set featured 24 ties and sweven lead changes.
Julia Orzol led all players with 15 kills, Dana Rettke had 13 and Grace Loberg added 11. Sydney Hilley had 53 assists and 11 digs and Jade Demps had 14 digs. Izzy Ashburn had five service aces.
The Badgers, now 22-3, 14-3 in Big Ten, will travel to Minnesota on Sunday.
The Wisconsin mens hockey team dropped a 3-2 game at Michigan State on Friday night.
The Badgers came back from a 2-0 deficit with Jack Gorniak scoring late in the second period on assists from Corson Ceulemans and Brock Caufield. Carson Bantle scored his first goal as a Badger in the 3rd.
Jared Moe had 37 saves for Wisconsin
The Badgers, now 4-9, will face the Spartans again tonight at 7pm.
