WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — Health officials in Wood County are entering ‘crisis mode’ due to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the last week.
As of Thursday officials were reporting 568 active cases in the county and an average of 66 new cases per day. which they say is higher than at any other point in the last year.
Because of the high positivity rate, officials say they are having a difficult time getting back to those who test positive to go over things like isolation recommendations and determining close contacts.
Officials are reminding residents that they should stay home for ten days following the onset of symptoms or a positive COVID-19 test
