STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP mens basketball team earned its first win of the year with a 65-63 victory over Edgewood on Saturday night at Quandt Fieldhouse.
Elijah Vander Velden got a block with six seconds left to preserve the win. Garrett Nelson had 17 pointsto lead the Pointers. Brady Wagner hit five three-pointers.
The Pointers, now 1-2, will play Lake Forest, Illinois on Saturday in Wisconsin Dells.
The UWSP womens basketball team knocked off Luther 70-46 Saturday at Berg Gym.
Jamie Pfeifer led the Pointers with a career high 20 points and also added eight rebounds. Taylor Greenheck had 14 and Jessica Slowik added 10.
The Pointers, now 4-1, will travel to Sheboygan on Tuesday to face Lakeland.
The 10th ranked UWSP mens hockey team suffered a 3-0 loss at UW-Superior on Saturday night.
The Yellowjackets scored all of their goals in the 2nd period.
The Pointers, now 5-3, will travel to Concordia (Wis) on Friday and host Concordia on Saturday.
The UWSP womens hockey team knocked off UW-Superior 2-1 on Saturday at Ice Hawks Arena.
Dani Heitsman and Gina Magro had the Pointer goals. Bella Moskonas and Mary Kremer had assists. Olivia Schultz had 46 saves.
The Pointers, now 3-5, will play at St. Norbert on Tuesday.
