MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A former Milwaukee Brewer pitcher has died from complications of COVID-19.
Doug Jones, 64, had 303 saves in the major leagues, mostly with Cleveland in a 16 year career. He had been chosen by Milwaukee in the 1978 draft but had his best years with Cleveland.
He signed with the Brewers as a free agent in 1996 and earned 36 saves with a 2.02 ERA that season at age 40. Jones was known for a devastating change up and made five All-Star teams in his career.
