WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Marathon County Health Department along with Marshfield Clinic, Asprius, Bridge Community Health, and the Hmong and Hispanic Communication Network will hold a vigil Tuesday for lives lost due to COVID-19.
“There will be candle-lit luminaries and some works of art from the local non-profit Rise Up,” said Public Information Officer Aaron Ruff with the health department. “It’s really an opportunity for the public to reflect on the lives that were lost.
Ruff says there will be no planned program for the vigil. The luminaries will be lit in the 400 Block in Wausau from 4:00-6:30 PM, and anyone is welcome to walk through during that time.
Officials add that support is available for those who are grieving due to any combination of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the holiday season. That includes resources from the CDC and Resilient Wisconsin. For more information, text HOPELINE to shortcode 741-741 to be connected with support services.
