WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A convicted sex offender living in Wausau has removed his GPS tracking device, leading a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Wausau Police say Robert Edward Johnson Jr. had been living in transitional housing near the Marathon County Courthouse since late August, but recently removed his tracker and walked away. Officers say he hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
The 44-year-old spent time in prison for first-degree sexual assault of a child and reached his mandatory release date on August 31st. He had been under the supervision of a sex offender agent specialist since then.
Johnson is described as 5’11”, 238 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes. He may be driving a black 2004 Ford Crown Victoria with Wisconsin plate ANN 6176.
