MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — For the second time this season the Milwaukee Bucks played the Toronto Raptors without a full complement of players and for the second time this season Toronto prevailed. The Raptors rallied in the second half for a 117-111 win on Wednesday night at Fiserv Forum.
Milwaukee was without Coach Mike Budenholzer, Grayson Allen, Pat Connaughton and George Hill who all entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols on Wednesday. They were also without Giannis Antetokounmpo who was out with a non-Covid illness.
Assistant coach Darvin Ham will run the team while Budenholzer is out.
The Bucks led by 14 in the second quarter and nine at halftime but the Raptors shot a bit better in the 2nd half and pulled out the win.
Milwaukee had six players in double figures led by Khris Middleton with 25. Jordan Nwora played over 40 minutes and had 17 points and six rebounds. Demarcus Cousins had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Jrue Holiday also had a double-double with 15 points and 12 assists. Bobby Portis had 11 and Sandro Mamukelashvili added 10.
Milwaukee, now 25-15, and will head on the road, starting at Brooklyn on Friday.
Bucks GM Jon Horst also confirmed that the team will be releasing Cousins this week before his contract becomes guaranteed for the season. Despite Cousins playing well in his 17 games with Milwaukee, the move will give the team roster flexibility before the NBA Trade deadline next month.
