WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Some snowmobile trails in Marathon County will open on Friday. Others will open on Saturday.
Snowmobile trails within Zones 1 and 2 will open Friday at noon, although some trains in those zones will remain closed for grooming. Intersection 256 north to intersection 257 will be closed. The Mountain Bay trail through Weston and trail access to the Shell gas station south of Highway 29 is permitted.
Most trails in Zones 4, 5, and 6 will open Saturday, January 8 at 8 AM. Several clubs have various trails within those zones closed.
All trails south of Weston Avenue are closed. Trails that allow winter ATV use in those zones will tentatively open at noon on Monday, January 17.
Zone 3 is closed until further notice.
Trails that allow winter ATV use are scheduled to open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, January, 18.
Riders can expect early season conditions on the trails and should use caution as those conditions warrant.
