MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Ryder Cup captain and Wisconsin native Steve Stricker reported this week that he had suffered serious heart inflammation between Thanksgiving and Christmas and was hospitalized for two weeks. He lost 25 pounds during the illness.
In an interview with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel Stricker said it started with a sore throat and a Covid-19 test came back negative. It got more serious and he also says he believes he had a bad reaction to a strong antibiotic he was given.
His urine was the color of cola and his heart rate at one point was 160 beats per minute for two hours. he said he had no energy or appetite and didn’t really eat for two weeks.
The interview also reports that Stricker’s cardiologist suspects that the golfer will not be able to compete for at least six months.
