MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The Wisconsin men’s hockey team fell to nationally ranked Ohio State 5-3 Saturday in game one of their weekend set.
Carson Bantle opened the scoring with four minutes to go in the first period, but Ohio State struck back quickly with two goals in the first six minutes of the second period.
Wisconsin took a brief 3-2 lead going into the third after goals from Roman Ahcan and Dominick Mersch. But the Buckeyes would score three unanswered to end the game.
Jared Moe made 28 saves and allowed four goals in the game. Wisconsin outshot Ohio State 36-32.
The same two teams will skate again this afternoon at the Kohl Center.
