GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) — Packers Offensive Coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is expected to interview for the vacant Head Coaching position in Jacksonville this week, according to multiple reports.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport says that interview could take place as soon as Friday, which is allowed since the Packers will be on a bye for the first round of the NFC Playoffs.
Hackett has a history with the Jaguars, he served on their staff as QB Coach and OC from 2015-2018, including the 2017 season where Jacksonville road a strong defense and ground game to a birth in the AFC Championship game. He was fired the next season following a 3-8 start, failing to replicate the previous years’ success.
Jacksonville isn’t the only club requesting permission from the Packers to talk to their OC, reports are also linking Hackett to Denver where the Broncos recently parted ways with Coach Vic Fangio.
Results from Sunday also solidified the NFL’s 2022 regular-season schedule, which will once again be 17 regular-season games and three preseason games. In addition to the double-round robin of games against Detroit, Minnesota, and Chicago the Packers will play all four teams from the AFC East and NFC East along with the champions of the NFC South and West:
HOME: Dallas, NY Giants, New England, NY Jets, Tennessee, and LA Rams
ROAD: Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Washington, and Tampa Bay
Green Bay’s extra regular-season game against the AFC South champion Tennessee Titans will be at home, meaning they will play just one preseason game at Lambeau.
The preseason schedule along with the complete 2022 regular-season slate will be announced later this spring, likely around the time of the NFL Draft in Las Vegas.
