WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A trial is underway in Marathon County Court for a man accused of ramming a police officer and leading authorities on a high-speed chase back in May of 2019.
Dan W. Willison, 57, is facing numerous charges including recklessly endangering safety, fifth offense OWI and bail jumping.
Colby-Abbotsford police officer Kyle Jolin approached Willison’s vehicle in the parking lot of the Home Motel in Abbotsford. Willison drove into Jolin who, while hanging onto the hood of the car, shot twice at Willison before falling off the vehicle. Willison was hit once in the chest but drove away.
He drove north on HWY 13 at speeds exceeding 100 MPH before abandoning the car on HWY 29 and running into a corn field. Jolin and a deputy from Clark County apprehended Willison and took him to the hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound and had a blood draw which showed a BAC of .184.
A jury was sworn in for the case on Tuesday and the trial is expected to last until Thursday.
