WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The woman found guilty of killing her husband more than a decade ago is requesting a new attorney before her sentencing date.
Cindy Schulz-Juedes is asking for Attorney Earl Gray to be removed from the case. Court records show Gray has also asked to be taken off the case.
The 66-year-old was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide last fall for killing Ken Juedes in 2006 to cash in on life insurance money and other assets. She said the windfall she received was the result of true love between the couple, and that instead a group of five other men had committed the crime over the sale of a racetrack and to keep Juedes quiet about illegal drug activity.
It’s unclear why Schulz-Juedes has asked for a new attorney.
Schulz-Juedes faces a mandatory life sentence with only the possibility of parole to be considered. Sentencing in the case is still set for March 18th, though a status hearing has been added for February 9th.
