TOMAHAWK, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Tomahawk School Board is moving forward with a new referendum.
The three-year, non-recurring, $3.25 million referendum was proposed at Tuesday’s board meeting. Now the referendum is in the public’s hands, with final approval coming in the April 5th Ballots.
The school board says the money will be used to offset some of the rising cost in busing, heat and to help programs like special education and students mental health.
Interim District Administrator Joseph Innis did point out some limits to the proposal. “The non recurring means that this would apply the $3,250,000 would apply for three years and would expired at the end of that three year period,” said Innis.
If approved the Referendum would impact property taxes, for every $1,000 of assessed property value the home owner would pay $1.49.
Homeowners with property worth $100,000 would pay an extra $149 in school taxes.
