WAUSAU, WI (WAOW-WSAU) — Wausau East teacher Jake Stachovak lost his battle with cancer after fighting for five years. On Sunday, friends, students, and co-workers will gather in his memory.
Stachovak, known as “Stove” to his students was a technology education teacher at the school, and now his memory will carry on through the “Stovestrong” fund designed to help tech-ed students in need.
“I think it was important that we try to do something that we can put together and that will have a little bit of a lasting impact on our students and create more opportunities for our students in the future,” said Jon Winter, Career and Technical Education Coordinator for the Wausau School District.
The celebration of life will take place at the Homestead Inn on Hwy 52 east of Wausau from one to four p.m. on Sunday with live and silent auctions to support the fund. Items made by students will be available to bid on.
If you are unable to make the event but would like to give to the fund, you can send a check to Wausau East with Stove Strong in the memo line.
