LINCOLN, NE (WSAU) — Wisconsin held off a late rally from Nebraska to pick up a 73-65 Big Ten win on Thursday afternoon.
Brad Davison led the charge with 21 points, one of four starters to finish the game in double figures. Chucky Hepburn and Johnny Davis added 13, and Steven Crowl chipped in 12.
Forward Tyler Whal added three points and ten rebounds, while Ben Carlson and Lorne Bowman II teamed up to score ten points off the bench.
Hepburn was playing the game with a heavy heart. The Nebraska native, who played for a state championship in Pinnacle Bank Arena, recently lost one of his high school classmates. He will not travel with the team back to Madison, and instead will stay in Nebraska for the funeral and will return later.
Davison hit a pair of milestones in the game, becoming the all-time leader in made three-point baskets and also hauling in his 5ooth career rebound.
Wisconsin won the game despite getting outshot by the Huskers. Nebraska finished 40% from the field (22-55) to 36.8% (25-68).
Bryce McGowens led the Huskers with 23 points.
Wisconsin improves to 16-3 (7-2 B1G), tied for first in the league with Illinois. Nebraska drops to 6-14 and 0-9 in the league.
The Badgers return home on Sunday for an I-94 showdown with Minnesota. Pregame coverage begins at 11 AM, with tipoff at noon.
