WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Wausau Policing Task Force will review and submit its final recommendations to the city’s Police Department on Monday evening.
The Task Force, made up of representatives from the Marathon County Board and City Council along with residents, has been meeting since the Fall of 2020. The group was assembled at the request of Mayor Katie Rosenberg and Police Cheif Ben Bliven in June of that year to examine issues and procedures regarding policing in the community.
Since then the group has examined all aspects of the Department including use of force demonstrations and discussions with Bliven regarding the procedures for investigating an officer-involved shooting. They have also digested data from a public survey that was conducted in early 2021.
