BEIJING, China (WSAU) — The US womens hockey team got off to a good start at the Olympics but it could have been a costly game.
The US beat Finland 5-2 in their opener but lost star player Brianna Decker to a serious looking lower body injury. She was stretchered off the ice and taken to the hospital where tests including an MRI were done.
Alex Carpenter and Kendall Coyne Schofield had two goals each and Amanda Kessel scored as well. Maddie Rooney had 10 saves for Team USA.
The US will face the Russians on Saturday.
