WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Those in rural areas of Marathon County are being encouraged to participate in a broadband internet speed test.
Participants are asked to visit this website and enter their address information. A test of their speed will then be conducted and recorded.
Only the user’s internet speed will be stored. Personal data such as address will not, and the website will not add tracking cookies to your device.
Those participating should make sure that all high-bandwidth devices are paused when they conduct the test. That includes TVs, tablets, video game consoles, or any other device that may be streaming video or other content.
That same website can be used to report an area that has no internet service. Those who aren’t able to access the site are asked to call 715-261-1404 to have their address recorded.
The test is designed to help bring together an accurate picture of high-speed internet access in the county, allowing the county’s broadband task force to provide targeted resources to those who are without reliable internet service for work or school.
