WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The suspected gunman in an officer involved shooting back in August has been identified.
Court records say Zackary Schwartz fled from law enforcement in Lincoln County. The vehicle Schwartz was in was found parked at a car dealership by a Marathon County Sheriff’s deputy in the Village of Maine.
Deputy Nathan Olig ordered the driver out of the vehicle. Court records show that Schwartz opened fire. Olig returned fire hitting Schwartz three times. Deputy Olig along with other law enforcement that responded to the scene provided first aid to Schwartz and a woman in the car who was also hurt.
Schwartz is facing multiple felony charges that include attempted first degree murder.
He’s being held on $500,000 bond.
