IRONWOOD, MI (WSAU-WXPR) – A new cannabis store in Ironwood, Michigan opened this week.
‘Higher Love’ is the city’s first cannabis store.
Regional Manager Lindsay Martwick says the business was attracted to Ironwood’s location near the Wisconsin border. “We saw the value of the location. We know that we have a lot of customers that come to us from other states, from Minnesota and Wisconsin and Missouri.”
Cannabis is legal in Michigan. But it’s illegal in Wisconsin and only legal for medical purposes in Minnesota. Still, many people are willing to make the drive to the Upper Peninsula.“It’s a product that the community wants and the community is excited for and they love our mission to help them on their wellness journey.”
The store’s grand opening was Monday.
About 200 people attended, despite adverse weather.
