RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce cancelled its business showcase weeks before it was scheduled to take place in the Hodag Dome.
Executive Director Lauren Sackett said the chamber struggled to secure vendors for the event, largely because the businesses that participate are understaffed. “Everybody’s hiring. We have a workforce shortage and that certainly is playing a part.”
She says some industries are also unusually busy right now. And others are trying to contend with shipping delays and increasing prices.
In the midst of all these challenges, Sackett said the chamber couldn’t justify continuing with the showcase. “We want our events to have value, and we felt like it wasn’t there this year.”
The business showcase was formerly known as the Hodag Home and Lifestyle Show. It’s a chance of businesses to display a booth to promote their work and recruit employees.
