Eagle River Ice Castle (Eagle River Fire Dept)
EAGLE RIVER, WI (WSAU-WXPR) – The Eagle River Ice Castle is no more. The Eagle River Fire Department announced of Facebook that the ice castle came down Wednesday morning.
They said it was great to see so many people enjoy the ice castle this year. It’s normal for the ice castle to be taken down before warm weather and sunshine make the structure unsafe.
The Eagle River Fire Department and volunteers construct the ice castle with blocks of ice cut from Silver Lake.
The ice castle was completed January 11th. This is the first year since 2018 they’ve been able to build it, as the weather has not cooperated in recent years.
