WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A man accused of trying to strangle a relative will stand trial for one count each of attempted first-degree homicide and suffocation.
Tommy Ehrisman was in a Wisconsin Rapids courtroom on Wednesday where a judge bound him over for trial following witness testimony. Court records show a woman identified the 64-year-old as the man who put a pillow over her face in an attempt to kill her, but then stopped and told the woman to call the police.
Ehrisman said he had been having thoughts of self-harm and had been planning the incident for two days.
Following the testimony, a judge found probable cause to move the case forward to trial, though no trial date was immediately set.
Ehrisman also informed the court that he does not have an attorney, saying he does not qualify for a public defender but also cannot afford one himself. The court ordered him to petition for representation, and scheduled an arrangement for March 28th where he will enter a plea to the charges.
