MADISON, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Central Wisconsin Storm topped Onalaska 5-0 to win a state title in girls hockey Saturday at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison.
Samantha Federici scored a hat trick in the win for the Storm. Gabi Heuser added two tallies, including an empty-netter late in the third.
Chloe Lemke made 16 saves to preserve the shutout win for the Storm.
The win marks the first time the CW Storm, which features DC Everest, Wausau East, and Wausau West, has won the state title. DC Everest does have three other state girls hockey titles to their name, but in different co-op configurations.
Other state title winners included Hudson in Division 1 (6-2 over Edgewood) and Rice Lake in Division 2 (4-3 over St. Mary’s Springs).
