SOUTH BEND, IN (WSAU) — Wisconsin canceled out an early 2-0 deficit only to see Notre Dame score with just 20 seconds left to claim a 3-2 win in game two of their opening-round series in the league tournament.
Roman Ahcan and Carson Bantle both scored power play goals to help the Badgers tie the game at 2 by the midway point of the third. Trevor Janicke scored the game-winner for Notre Dame.
Jared Moe took the loss in net making 30 saves including 16 in the third period alone. He was pulled for the final 20 seconds for the extra skater.
The deciding game between the Badgers and Fighting Irish is scheduled for 5 PM today and will be heard on WSAU following the Badger men’s basketball regular-season finale against Nebraska. Pregame coverage will start at 4:30.
In other Big Ten first-round action Michigan eliminated Michigan State 8-0 on Saturday to advance to the semifinals, while Penn State and Ohio State are also heading to a deciding third game after a 3-2 win by the Nittany Lions.
