INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WSAU) — The fields for the NCAA Women’s Hockey and Division III Men’s Hockey Tournaments have been announced.
The Wisconsin women will play a first-round game against Clarkson this Thursday at 6 PM, with the winner advancing to play Northeastern two days later for a spot in the Frozen Four.
The 11-team field features four WCHA schools, including the top two seeds (Minnesota and Ohio State). Minnesota-Duluth will also play a first-round game on Thursday against Harvard. Colgate, Yale, Quinnipiac, and Syracuse round out the National Championship field.
Meanwhile, St. Norbert’s Green Knights were selected for the Division III Men’s Tournament. They’ll take on St. Olaf (MN) in the opening round Saturday. The winner of that game will battle another MIAC school, Augsburg, in the quarterfinals.
No WIAC schools were awarded at-large bids to the tournament, officially ending the season for both UWSP (the defending DIII National Champions) and WIAC Commissioner’s Cup champions UWEC.
