NEW YORK, NY (MetroSource-WSAU) — Major League Baseball is postponing another week of regular season games.
In a statement released by the league, it was announced Opening Day is moving to at least April 14th after talks stalled once again on Wednesday.
The MLB Players Association rejected three offers on an International Draft resolution, which became the latest issue in negotiations. They did send a counter-proposal to the owners.
With the 162 game schedule now unlikely, the talks could get more complicated as the players have said that if the owners refuse full pay and service time for the season, the players would not agree to expanded playoffs which is a key to the owners basic agreement.
The players are intent to fix the financial issues into the future. Player salaries have dropped iver the past four seasons while team revenues have grown and franchise values have skyrocketed. The owners, who like the current economic system have pushed back at major changes and continue to lock the players out of spring training camps.
Talks are on-going .
