GREEN BAY, Wi (WSAU) — The Green Bay Packers have reached an agreement on a contract extension with outside linebacker Preston Smith.
The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports the deal is for four years and $53.5 million in new money. The deal will pay him $75 million total.
The Packers will save around $8 million in salary cap money under the deal.
Smith had one year remaining on his contract but the Packers had to re-do it or release him to generate some cap room.
There are also various reports saying that the Packers have released Za’Darius Smith and Billy Turner.
