ROME, WI (WSAU) — The Sand Valley Golf Resort has announced they are in the final stages of designing a fourth course for guests.
Vice President of Marketing and Communications Tom Ferrell says they are working with renowned designer Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf Design on the project, which will bring another full-length 18-hole course to the property named Sedge Valley.
“We’re responding to what our guests are asking for,” said Ferrell. “As we continue to attract more local guests and national guests [we realized] we had this piece of property that would just fit perfectly for an English heathland-style course. It will be a very interesting golf experience, and another way to experience the game at Sand Valley.”
Ferrell says the course will demand more skill and strategy out of golfers, meaning you won’t need to be a big-hitter to find success. Most of the hazards will consist of native ground cover and rocks with trees bordering the course.
He also expects the finished product will showcase Wisconsin’s natural beauty, much like the other courses at the resort. “It’s an amazing piece of the Wisconsin ecosystem. It’s a deeper experience to be out in the Wisconsin woods than some golfers expect when they get here, to tell you the truth.”
If all goes as planned the course will open to the public in 2024, though some golfers could get the chance to play preview rounds in late 2023.
