MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — The former Marshfield Municipal Court Clerk is accused of stealing more than $70,000 from the city.
OnFocus News in Marshfield is reporting that Susan Carlson is facing multiple counts of theft of more than $10,000 in a business setting after the current city clerk was able to notice discrepancies in some of the city’s books.
Officials say Melissa Kloos noticed some payments for citations had been incorrectly documented and was never passed on to the city’s finance department.
The alleged thefts occurred between January 2016 and her retirement last December.
Carlson is due in Wood County Court for an initial appearance on Monday. If found guilty on all charges she could serve up to 30 years in prison.
