WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A new sentencing date was set on Thursday for the woman accused of killing her husband in 2006.
Cindy Schulz Juedes appeared virtually on Thursday where a judge moved sentencing to June 8th. This came after her request for a new attorney was fulfilled earlier this week.
Schulz Juedes had been represented by Twin Cities-based attorney Earl Gray during her trial last fall, but in January she and Gray parted ways.
Court records show she has now been assigned a public defender.
The 67-year-old faces a mandatory life sentence for killing Ken Juedes, with only the possibility of parole to be considered that day. She was found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide last fall for killing Ken Juedes in 2006 to cash in on life insurance money and other assets. She said the windfall she received was the result of true love between the couple, and that instead a group of five other men had committed the crime over the sale of a racetrack and to keep Juedes quiet about illegal drug activity.
