CLERMONT, FLORIDA (WSAU) — The UWSP softball team split a pair of one run games to open their Florida trip on Friday.
They dropped the opener to Benedictine 3-2 and beat Carthage 5-4.
Madde Candre, Jesse Klicker and Abby Van Beek each had three hits on the day. Van Beek also pitched the win in Game 2. She also pitched two inning in Game 1 in relief of Makenna Tkach.
The Pointers, now 8-2, will play two games today against Farmingdale State and Allegheny.
The UWSP baseball team split a doubleheader against Coe College on Friday in Florida. They lost 7-0 in Game one and rallied for a 4-2 win in Game 2.
Quin Henwood drove in the game winners with a triple in Game 2. Aaron Simmons was the only Pointer with more than one hit. He had one in each game. Sidney Ferry picked up the win in Game 2 striking out four over the final two innings.
The Pointers, now 4-1, will take on St. Scholastica today.
