WESTON, WI (WSAU) — The Everest Metro PD and other local agencies are marking five years since the shootings of March 22nd, 2017 which claimed four lives in the Wausau area.
Karen Barclay, Diane Look, Sara Quirt-Sann, and EMPD Det. Jason Weiland were all shot and killed during the incident.
In a statement on Facebook the Wausau PD said “While it has been five years since tragedy took their lives on March 22, 2017, time has not lessened pain of their loss.”
EMPD held a ceremony to mark the occasion Tuesday morning. In the years since the incident, a memorial to all four individuals has also been installed at Kennedy Park in Weston near the DC Everest Senior High School.
The shooter, Nengmy Vang, was shot by officers following a stand-off and later died from his injuries.
