RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — Northwoods residents who need a place to warm up are encouraged to visit one of three warming centers being offered in Oneida County.
The Sheriff’s Office says those locations include Wal-Mart stores in Rhinelander and Minocqua and the YMCA on Winnebego Street in Rhinelander.
Both Wal-Mart locations are open 24/7 while the YMCA is open from 5 AM to 9 PM Monday through Friday.
Those without power should report their outage to either WPS or the Price Electric Coop.
As of noon on Wednesday WPS has restored power to more than 28,000 customers, with around 25,000 customers still in the dark according to their latest outage map. WPS Spokesman Matt Cullen says crews have encountered downed power lines and trees that have fallen into electric equipment as a result of last night’s heavy, wet snow and freezing rain.
