STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point Police arrested a 24-year-old man after a domestic disturbance in a home on Henrietta Street Wednesday.
Officers reported to the home at about 7:30 to find a woman running away and a man, later identified as Aaron Walker, barricading himself in a bedroom.
Police had received a report that the man was intoxicated and had access to guns. Additionally, he had made threats to shoot the police if they responded.
Officers called in the SWAT team and professional negotiators who set up a perimeter around the home. During that time, Walker escaped.
Officers managed to make phone contact with Walker and enlisted a K9 officer to help track him. After 80 minutes, they arrested him without further incident along Echo Dells Avenue.
Recommended charges against Walker include disorderly conduct, battery, criminal property damage, and intimidating a victim. All carry domestic abuse modifiers.
Officers from Stevens Point, Plover, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office, and UWSP Police Department responded to the incident.
