RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Public Service crews have restored power to more than 80,000 customers who were impacted by heavy snow and freezing rain this week.
According to the latest update from WPS they expect to have 90% of the customers who lost power back online by the end of Thursday.
Crews have run into significant damage to electrical infrastructure from downed trees and branches. Some of those repairs have required significant rebuilding. Crews are also dealing with some 600 downed power lines due to the storm.
The latest WPS outage map shows some 14,300 customers remain without power as of 5:30 PM. The majority of those impacted are in the Three Lakes, Lac du Flambeau, Minocqua, St. Germain, and Wausaukee areas.
Customers are encouraged to report any new outages or downed power lines immediately. The latest outage information can be found on the WPS outage map by clicking here.
