GOODYEAR, Az (WSAU) — The Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Milwaukee Brewers 12-8 in spring training baseball on Wednesday night.
The Reds knocked around reigning Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes who gave up five earned runs and five hits in three innings. he walked two and struck out five. It was Burnes first game action of the spring and he didn’t seem concerned. He threw 50 pitches and said he felt fine physically.
Brad Boxberger also struggled on the mound giving up five runs in just 2/3 innings. Aaron Ashby did look good, tossing three scoreless innings with three Ks.
Keston Hiura continued his hot spring going 2-3 with a homer and two RBIs. Tyrone Taylor also homered and drove in two runs. Andrew McCutchen played his first game as a Brewer and drove in a run.
Milwaukee will host Arizona this afternoon.
