MEMPHIS, TN (WSAU) — De’Anthony Melton came off the bench to carry the Memphis Grizzlies to a 127-102 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday.
Melton scored 24 points to lead the Grizzlies in the win. Desmond Bane added 20, Dillon Brooks chipped in 19 in what was a balanced effort for Memphis.
The scoring was not nearly as balanced for Milwaukee. Giannis Antetokounmpo notched the game-high with 30 points while adding 11 rebounds and four assists. Khris Middleton scored 16, and Brook Lopez added 10.
Jevon Carter and Pat Connaughton each scored 9 points off the bench.
The Grizzlies outshot the Bucks 48% to 40% from the field and 35% to 22% from three-point range. Milwaukee did have a better free throw percentage for the game at 81% to 70%.
Memphis outrebounded the Bucks 54-32.
Both Ja Morant and Jrue Holiday sat out the game with injuries.
The loss snapped a four-game win streak for the Bucks over the Grizz at FedEx Forum.
In addition to dropping the game, the Bucks also dropped a chance to gain ground in the standings on the first-place Miami Heat as they fell to the struggling Brooklyn Nets 110-95. Miami and Philadelphia are currently in a statistical tie for first place in the East, with both Milwaukee and Boston sitting a half-game off the pace at 46-28.
With eight games remaining the Bucks have yet to clinch a playoff spot. The only Eastern Conference team guaranteed a spot in the postseason is Miami as champions of the Southeast Division. Both Memphis and Phoenix have cliched in the West, with Phoenix earning home-court advantage throughout the postseason earlier this week.
