MERRILL, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — To grow broadband access to the Northwoods, Lincoln county is asking residents for their help.
County supervisors are asking their districts to complete an internet speed test, to learn more about what areas have limited access to the internet.
Supervisor Patricia Voerman said greater broadband access will help develop the communities economy and bring the younger generation to the Northwoods.
“The current maps that tell you where the internet is in the community are inaccurate,” Voerman said. “It’s really hard to plan for internet services when you don’t even know what is accurate.”
Lincoln County residents have until June 15, 2022, to take the test.
To take the test go to the Lincoln County Website.
A similar test is underway for residents of Marathon County as well.
