WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Wausau’s Ethics Board will gather again Monday to potentially finalize work on a complaint filed against Alder Deb Ryan.
According to Monday’s agenda, the Board may go into closed session to discuss the “findings of fact and conclusions of law” regarding the situation, which was dismissed earlier this month.
The board found Ryan did not violate the city’s code of ethics as it is currently written, though did condemn her actions in the strongest possible sense.
Monday’s meeting is set to begin at 4 PM.
Ryan was accused by Marathon County Supervisor and Judicial candidate William Harris of making defaming statements about home to his employer while also threatening other employees. Since being cleared of an ethics violation, she is asking the city to cover her legal expenses for the proceedings under a provision that protects city officials from the burden of legal defense costs from meritless complaints.
According to a news release sent out by Ryan last week, that could amount to between $15,000 and $20,000.
